Alice Hoyt Hayes Morril was born in Denver, Colorado on August 8, 1935. Her parents were Frank and Adeline Dodds Hoyt. Alice began her teaching career in Siguard, Utah when she was 16 years old. Later she taught in the Sevier Stake Academy. She was teaching here when she met her first husband, Isaac Hayes. After his death she remarried Horace Morrill. Alice was County Superintendent of the Schools of Piute county from 1894-1896. She taught in the Tridell school district, where she and Horace lived, almost continuously from 1919 until her death in 1935. She was known as a poet, educator, and leader.
