Allison Hill was born in raised in Tacoma, Washington. She spent three years studying fine arts at Northwest College of Art before going on to Pacific Lutheran University, where she graduated with a BFA in creative writing with an emphasis in short fiction, a minor in French, and a certificate in children's literature. After working in the fine arts arena for two more years, she went to graduate school at Brigham Young University, where she obtained a TESOL certificate and an MFA.
