Amy Brown Lyman
Amy Brown Lyman was born February 7, 1872 in Pleasant Grove, Utah to John Brown and Margaret Zimmerman Brown. She graduated from Brigham Young University in 1890. She married Richard Roswell Lyman September 9, 1896 in the Salt Lake City LDS temple. She was the 8th President of the Relief Society (the woman's organization of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints). Her husband was a member of the leadership of the Church. He served as an Apostle.
Amy Lyman was a representative to the Utah State Legislature in 1923. She was a recording secretary, auditor, and third vice president of the National Council of Women, and represented the national council three times as a delegate of the International Council Conference in Washington, D.C. in 1925, Yugoslavia in 1936, and Scotland in 1938. She was awarded the distinguished alumnus award by BYU in 1937.
