Beatrice Stevens was born May 27, 1885 in Ogden, Utah, to Asa Calkin and Rachel Caroline Poulter Farley. She married Stringham Stevens September 5, 1907 in the Salt Lake City LDS temple. She taught school in Ogden and in Morgan county. Beatrice was widely known for her musical compositions, and in February 1941 was awarded a prize for composing "Hail Utah," the official University of Utah Alma mater song.
