Celestia was born in Alpine, Utah, April 8, 1903, to Jesse Wanderus and Deseret Nash Johnson. She received her education at Brigham Young University High School and College. She graduated from BYU in 1925 with a B.A. Degree in music and education. In August, 1927, she married Lynn Dixon Taylor in the Salt Lake City Temple. She taught in the Grantsville, Utah school system for three years. She joined the faculty of BYU after having received her M.A. degree in 1953, and taught English and Literature for 21 years until her retirement in 1974. In 1962 she was called to the general board of the Relief Society where she served for 13 years. During the 1970's she prepared the homemaking lessons published in the Relief Society Magazine over a six year period. Celestia was a charter member of the Literary League of Provo, a member of the Utah Poetry Association, and the League of Utah Writers. From 1980 to 1982 she was president of the National League of American Pen Women.
