Melvin Conrey Bryson was born in 1905 to Samuel Conrey and Clara Davis Bryson. He married Pearl Hale McMillen on May 15, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They relocated to El Paso, Texas. Melvin received his bachelors and masters degrees from Texas Western College with a major in history and government. He was a part time instructor of political science at El Paso Community College. He was well known in El Paso for his work in radio and television. Melvin was active in civic and community projects and was one of the original members of the Public Service Board. He served two terms as president of the El Paso County Historical Society. He also served as press secretary to U.S. congressman Richard White in Washington, D.C.
