Jacobs worked at the BYU Motion Picture Studio in casting and other capacities while finishing his master\'s degree with a thesis on the history of Church films. He helped develop the audiovisual program at the Church College in Hawaii (later BYU-H) before returning to the MPS where he directed some of the Church\'s most popular films, such as \"The Mailbox\" and \"The First Vision\". Impressed by the early history of LDS films and the work of the Clawsons, he created the Church in Action series in the 1970s, the forerunner of today\'s World News Report.
