Genevieve Aura Plouf Groen was born October 6, 1921 in Yakima, Washington to Felix Cornelius and Aura Marie Cyr Plouf. She married Henry John Groen. Genevieve was passionate about learning, read many books, and taught herself to read and write in 12 different languages. She published a 10,000 line poem, "E Pluribus Unum," under her pen name "Genevieve St. Cyr."
