“She was the best teacher I ever had” is what you most often hear said about Gloy Wride, former Aberdeen, Idaho school teacher. Besides being an influential teacher, she is also an author, historian, poet, artist, world traveler, former Justice of the Peace, former first lady of the mayor of Aberdeen and a descendant of one of the bodyguards of the LDS Prophet, Joseph Smith. Always active in the community, she was elected to the School Board while in her eighties and later accepted the office of Chairman of the School Board.
