I have played around with writing for most of my life. Unfortunately, life got in the way. It wasn't until I retired that I realized I now had all the time in the world to write. For a year I played around with various stories, but none felt comfortable. Then, I got to reading mysteries. Next came the NaNoWriMo November writing goal. I tried, but only managed to get 25K words written. But, that got me hooked. For the next three years, I read all the mysteries I could get from the library. This was something different for me because I have never been much of a reader. Still, I learned from each book I read and I continued to write.
The first novel I wrote has finally been self-published. Over the past three years, it has morphed into the novel it is today. :I re-wrote that novel so many times, my main character would often stand in front of me, fold her arms in front of her and tap her foot. At least in my mind she did. The last three years have been a learning experience.
Also in the last three years, whenever I let my first novel sit for a while, I got several more novels written. They have all gone through several editing sessions. I hope to get several published this year.
I'm not sure why I got into mysteries. I tried other forms of wrting and nothing else felt comfortable. I can't think of writing anything else.
I currently live in East Central Illinois. I live with two cats.
