Ora Pate Stewart was born August 23, 1910, in Teton Basin, Idaho, the daughter of Ezra Greenwood and Ada Rosella Sharp Pate. She was raised on a ranch in Wyoming and began composing songs and writing stories and poems from a young age. Ora married Robert W. Stewart on October 13, 1935, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS temple. She is the author of 29 books (14 bestseller), author of four poetry books, and composer of over 200 works of music. Ora was named composer of the year 1982. She was honored at the White House by four different presidents. She lived in 28 states with her husband, who was in the Air Force.
