Wanda B. Blaisdell was a poet and writer who published children's stories in The Friend magazine. She was born in Logan, Utah on April 17, 1921 to John Erval and Ellen Anderson Hanson Bindrup. She spent her early years in Logan and graduated from Logan High School. She married James Pershing Blaisdell on September 15, 1941 in the Logan LDS Temple. She lived in Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, Virginia, and Utah as she was raising her family.
Wanda received numerous awards for her original poems, including first place awards in the Utah Arts Council Light Verse Competition and the National Federation of State Poetry Societies. She judged and sponsored many contests nationwide. She was president of the Utah State Poetry Society, president of the League of Utah Writers, and served as 4th vice president and historian for the National League of the American Pen Woman. For 10 years Wanda directed the Utah State Junior Creative Writing Program. She was honored as "Utah Writer of the Year" in 1983.
