I began my career as a high school English teacher but quickly realized that an MA was in my future. Needing to feed my children during that educational hiatus, I accepted a job as a police officer and worked nights so I could attend classes during the day (never, ever do that). I\'ve been working in law enforcement ever since, as a patrol officer, a detective, and as a youth services officer. Being a police officer has given me opportunities and experiences that I never could have believed existed. Most of all, though, I enjoy working with the young people in my community, watching them struggle and thrive all at the same time. Writing has been a healthy diversion for me, but not something I\'ve been able to work at full-time. Perhaps in time I will retire from police work and dabble in writing as a career.
I tend to write police thrillers, it\'s what I know best, but I am committed to the ideals and standards that LDS readers expect and deserve. I hope eventually to grow as a writer and grapple with more important literary topics, but I also believe in the value of fun stories. I value my relationships with others interested in the arts and enjoy hearing from readers.
