Both Jeff and Serena are mourning lost love. Jeff’s wife passed away, leaving him with a young boy, David, while Serena had sworn off love at the death of her finance. When the unexpected deaths of her cousins leaves Serena the sole inheritor of their walnut farm, her and Jeff’s paths are brought together and they get married. They work through the challenges that arise and find their place in the community. Their hired help, Luis, who has become a part of their family, convinces them to put David into the scouting program of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They are greatly impressed by the people there, and having previously been divided on the subject of religion, decide to attend church there as a family.
