Blint Compton thinks about all the expenses that will take away from his harvest, and he starts to rationalize that tithing is too much to pay and that there is such a thing as being "too good." His daughter then comes to tell him what she learned in her religion class about the Good Samaritan and about how paying tithes and offerings is a way of helping others and being loving like Heavenly Father. His heart is softened, and he feels that it is a joy to give.
