Growing up in the projects of Charlotte, North Carolina has been a survival battle for Elise, her brother, Nate, and her mother, Janice. There is never enough money to do the things they would like, and life has never been the same since Elise's step-father walked out of their lives years earlier.
But dreaming of taking her family to a better place where they can overcome the misfortunes of the past keeps Elise optimistic and cheerful through her last year of high school. To help accomplish this, she obtains a part-time job
at a local bookshop, unaware that her journey through life is just beginning and soon to be altered permanently.
Elise's Heart is the story of a tender and loving young woman fighting to bring happiness to her family and to herself. In the face of extreme adversity and loss, Elise finds in herself new resolve and hope in the form of God's plan for happiness – a concept that drives her to search her heart for what is truly of value.
