Jean and Richard are a married couple arguing about proper and improper activities. Jean enjoys playing cards, gambling, drinking alcohol, and smoking. Richard doesn't think such things are good, and he advocates for going to church activities, playing hymns, and paying tithing, all of which Jean thinks are unnecessary and boring. Richard leaves for Mutual while Jean sleeps, and she dreams that Richard goes drinking and gambling and accidentally kills a man while drunk. When she wakes up, she resolves to be a better person.
