Set in Japan with a Japanese cast, this remake of the 1964 film explores the same themes of birth, life, death, and the answers to mankind's most probing questions.
This version of the film was done for the World's Fair Expo in Japan by the regular BYU Motion Picture Studio crew, marking a monumental decision on the Church's part to create a film for a specific national market outside the United States. Despite the language barrier the film was finished promptly and according to the crew's desires, and the film was considered a great success at the Expo, especially since Japan is not a predominantly Christian country.
