Mrs. Davis is left a widow after her husband suddenly dies of the flu. Her late husband's sister offers to take in Mrs. Davis' second son, but Mrs. Davis doesn't want to part with him despite her poverty. She prays for a sign to know what to do, and Brother Anderson visits. He tells her that when God gives trials, He also gives opportunities and strength. Brother Anderson then offers to plant sugar beets in her fields free of charge, which would provide enough money that Mrs. Davis wouldn't have to send away her son.
