Alice Merkley’s husband, Hal, died years ago, but she feels like she can still feel his spirit with her sometimes providing comfort. Her son, Harold, also seemed to feel his father’s spirit, but now Harold is off at college. Alice receives a letter from Harold that he is dropping out of college to go into a gambling business and run away with a married woman. Alice is distraught and doesn’t know what to do to change her son’s mind when she feels her late husband inspire her to send her husband’s creed of life to Harold. Harold receives the creed and thinks back to the example his father set for him. He decides to abandon his plans and live honorably.
