A wealthy woman, Patricia, sees a new family move into a small house in her neighborhood. At first, Patricia doesn't think much of them, but over time she builds a friendship with the newly moved in wife and mother, Mrs. Wesley. Patricia thinks of Mrs. Wesley's life as drab, boring, and lacking "outside interests," while Patricia is well-known and interacts with visiting celebrities and other important people. When a visiting celebrity that Patricia had hoped to "cultivate" turns out to be Mrs. Wesley's sister, Patricia is humbled and realizes that the prestige she has been seeking is not worth much, and that Mrs. Wesley is the one who possesses "everything worth while."
