Martha Kenton is going through her old things and finds many old, ugly fabrics that her mother tells her to make into carpets. Her mother then likens buying poor fabrics to buying ugly clothes of envy, contempt, and doubt from God's store. The clothes are worthless, but they can be dipped in goodwill and changed into carpets of love and understanding.
