A man abruptly leaves the Church, giving no reason and responding to no attempts to bring him back. Brother Gerber regularly visits him and, rather overbearingly, invites him back to the fold. He suggests that in order to come back to Church, the man must come to terms with his granddaughter's suicide. The man is highly offended and insists that her death has nothing to do with it and is already in the past. He tries to insist it strongly enough to convince not only Brother Gerber, but also himself.
