A Catholic Mexican family living in the US is tried to the limit when the wife is baptized into the LDS Church. Her husband Ruben must respond to her decision and continue to guide his family.

Ruben Diaz, a faithful husband and father, must deal with his wife's conversion to another religion. While his wife Antonia feels she is obeying God by being baptized, Ruben feels betrayed by her disloyalty to their Catholic vows and cultural values. This conflict threatens to tear their family apart."
Roots & Wings was awarded Best Film 2002 from the Association for Mormon Letters (AML) and Best Director/Best Screenplay at the Eclipse Int'l Film Festival and Best College Drama at the Thunderbird Int'l Film Festival. It also received an Gold Aurora Award for Best Foreign Language Film 2002.
Done as a student film at BYU, this was later marketed commercially on video by Thomson Productions.
