Sheriff Daniel Galvez has built a good life for himself in his hometown of Moose Springs, Utah. He gets along with just about everyone in town -- except for Dr. Lauren Maxwell. Daniel has been attracted to Lauren for years, though he knows itÕs a waste of energy, especially when she treats him with such cool reserve. Nothing can ever come of his attraction for many reasons -- not the least of which because they grew up so differently. She was the town princess, the wealthy, pampered daughter of the man who was both the mayor and the most successful man in town. She was smart and beautiful and in a completely different social stratosphere than he when they were kids. His parents were illegal immigrants from Mexico who never had enough of anything but love to go around.
In the years since, their roles have been reversed after Lauren's father swindled the town out of millions. Now he's the respected sheriff and she's the daughter of the man who caused the town's biggest scandal. He knows her coolness would quickly turn to active loathing if she knew the truth about his role in her father's downfall.
They're both forced to put aside their respective emotions and worth together in the closest of quarters to help a battered young girl who has been thrust into a nightmare. [from author's web site]
