During the Christmas season in Salt Lake in 1847, there is tension between the LDS pioneers and the Utes. Margaret Yates notices that her son has gone missing, and she calls her husband, John Yates, to help. He offers goods to the Utes in return for their help in searching. John and the chief find the boy and bring him home safely, and the pioneers give a sled full of gifts to the Utes. The region is full of thanksgiving and joy.
