Lorry Templeton fails an audition playing Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture and is rejected from a position playing piano in an orchestra. He decides to give up music, but his father, who had a stroke ten years ago that rendered him nearly catatonic, hears and miraculously plays the Overture on piano beautifully. The orchestra conductor hears and offers Lorry the position after all.
