A trapper marries a Native American woman named Lamb at Christmas time. One day, thieves come to steal the trapper's furs while the trapper is away, and they accidentally kidnap the trapper's and Lamb's son. Lamb follows after to rescue her son, which takes her two years. The trapper assumes that Lamb ran away and resents her, but later discovers the truth. He meets her and their son on Christmas in an LDS settlement, and the family converts to the gospel.
