Elsa Breinholt has always wanted to travel, a wish that becomes a reality when she meets an American solider, Clay. With the money she has saved, she is able to leave her home in Germany and go to Utah, where she lives with Clay’s family. She works for a while in Salt Lake City, before going up to Idaho to visit her uncle. She is amazed by the amount of people in each ward that she attends, and begins to think that her place is back in Germany. In order to obtain the money for a return trip, she nannies four young boys, and in a few months she, along with her aunt and uncle, return to Germany. While her family enjoys a vacation, she covers for her sister in the shop, allowing Karl, a man she met before she left, the chance to propose to her, which she happily accepts.
